We are currently focusing on following initiatives:

The Crowley Park Sustainable Farm

Photo of raised bed gardens on vegetables

Phase 1 of the farm is officially started.  Last weekend we built 5 raised beds, 1 foot high, 36 feet long, and 5 feet wide.  We hand shoveled and wheelbarreled 15 yards of topsoil and 8 yards of compost before planting.  All of the beds have been planted and the vegetables are all doing well.  Heartfelt thanks and appreciation goes out to all of the volunteers that showed up to help even though forecasts called for rain.  Kharma paid off as we only saw a few sprinkles all weekend.  The only way a project like this can succeed is through commmunity involvement and we are extremely appreciative for all of the help and support we are receiving.

The Crowley Park Sustainable Pool

We are still in the planning stages, we hope to share sustainable systems being built for the farm with the systems needed to make the pool sustainable to reduce cost and increase capacity for both projects.

The Crowley Park Sustainable School

This initiative is still in the initial planning stages as well.  We also hope to share sustainable systems with the pool and farm.  There is nothing more sustainable than synergy which is what we are aiming for with these three initiaives.

We are currently working on the following projects:

Sustainability and nutrition Public Service Announcements

Working in conjunction with MoTownMedia.net, TheGoingGreenFoundation.org is in the process of producing sustainability and nutrition Public Service Announcements to be shown on TV and Cable as well as the Internet.  If you want to become involved please don't hesitate to contact us.  We have an open door policy and will share everything we know.

Compost Tumbler Project

In support of The Crowley Park Sustainable farm, TheGoingGreenFoundation.org is working on providing free or very low cost compost tumblers for the residents of the Crowley Park Neighbohood.  Our goal is to acquire the neccessary compost to amend 2.5 acres worth of land with the help of cover crops.  We hope to encourage residents to compost for the farm or their own gardens and landscaping. (who needs fertilizer?)

Note: composting the right materials the right way does not cause bad odors or attract vermin.  Use nothing animal based other than eggshells, definitely no meats or fat.

Rainwater Conservation Project

TheGoingGreenFoundation.org is currently finding vendors and funding for a neighborhood rain barrel project where we find low cost or free materials to build rain barrels and have a barrel building picnic at the farm.  Every participant can take home as many rain barrels as they can handle at cost or better.  We also have sources for reasonably priced barrels already constructed.

Neighborhood Greenovation Project

We are currently seeking contractors, suppliers, and vendors interested in participating in green neighborhood renovation projects.
